Welcome to the Nature Coast

With almost a million acres of trails, swamps, prairies and rivers, Florida’s nature coast is the perfect home base for those that love the great outdoors. But where should you move? Today we’re going over the top counties in Florida’s nature coast you should consider.

Where is Florida’s Nature coast?

You’ve probably heard of the Nature Coast, but could you locate it on a map?

The Nature Coast isn’t an official name: the term was coined in the 90s to highlight the breathtaking beauty of counties along Florida’s big bend coast. As a whole, the Nature Coast includes 8 different counties (from East to West): Wakulla, Jefferson, Taylor, Dixie, Levy, Citrus, Hernando and Pasco.

Boasting seemingly endless expanses of almost virgin lands, this area is a favorite for those that enjoy outdoor activities. Trekking, kayaking, fishing and cycling can all be a daily occurrence if you relocate here. The best part? There’s no need to sacrifice the comfort of your own home, since several key cities and towns are just a stone’s throw away from the main natural amenities.

5 reasons to relocate to the Nature Coast

If you’re considering a move, why not Florida’s Nature Coast? Every year, the area welcomes new residents looking to go beyond the usual amenities. In our experience, clients choose this area for:

1. Location: Most towns in our favorite counties area are less than 2 hours away from theme parks, Tampa city and all the regular amenities. A perfect balance to enjoy the best of both worlds!

2. Plenty of historical sites: From Native American mounds to Antebellum-era homes, this area has lots to offer to history buffs. Every county has several museums and historic paths to enjoy.

3. Trails for everyone: Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just starting out, the nature trails in the area are definitely one of the highlights. There’s also plenty of flexibility: many people love to hike through the well-kept trails, but cycling, jogging and even horseback riding is possible depending on your location.

4. Wildlife: Since the area has many reserves and parks, wildlife-watching is a definite perk. There’s 19 rare or endangered species that live in Florida’s Nature Coast, and living here you’ll have the chance to explore their natural habitats.

5. Fishing: The Nature Coast is known as one of the best places worldwide for tarpon fishing. Whether you’re interested in redfish, Gator trout or others, there’s plenty roaming the waters here.
